Tyler “Ninja” Blevin has already had an amazing career. With regularly over 100,000 viewers on Twitch (and a record of over 600,000 viewers), he is one of the biggest game streamer. Now Ninja has concluded a sponsoring deal with the Austrian beverage manufacturer Red Bull and will perform as an eSports player in their eSports programme. Furthermore Blevin will host the tournament “Red Bull Rise Till Dawn” in the Willis Tower in Chicago, where fans can compete against him.
Esports attracts more and more viewers
The charity event “Pro Am” at the E3 in Los Angeles showed how appealing eSports tournaments are to the public. There, mixed teams of two, consisting of well-known gamers such as Ninja and celebrities such as NBA player Paul George, competed against each other. The event attracted over 1.7 million viewers on various streaming services.
Red Bull has been involved in eSports for some time now: In addition to their own major events in games such as League of Legends or Clash Royale, Red Bull also has a number of eSports players under contract. Javier “Janoz” Munoz, who is currently playing for Team Ares eSport and Ivan “BorasLegend” Lapanje from Hashtag United have recently joined the official Red Bull gamers at the popular football game FIFA.
“This is another important milestone for the game streaming industry. For months now, we have seen a clear boom when it comes to Twitch, which is now being further promoted by sponsorships and activities of some of the world’s most important and largest brands. We are of course particularly pleased that an Austrian company, Red Bull, is also promoting eSports and game streaming worldwide and is signing this year’s most successful and largest streamer”. – Thomas Rafelsberger (CEO own3d.tv)
