Every Twitch user can add a unique banner image on top of their profile, above the video player. Viewers will see it when they click on the channel’s name. Its role is to provide useful information for the viewers and to give a good idea of the general vibes of your content.
It makes your stream look more professional. It is simple to create and to add to your Twitch profile, so its absence is very noticeable to viewers. You’re also missing out on an easy way to steer your viewers towards your social media channels and to let them know about your schedule at a glance. It is just a convenient way to tell people about the most important aspects of your channel.
To add a banner for Twitch, you have to click on your channel name. This will open up your profile banner. Click on it, and an upload prompt will appear. Here, you can upload the banner image of your choice.
You can edit your fancy new Twitch banner with any online or offline image editing tool that you are comfortable with. For a free online option, we recommend Photopea. This way, you can add your channel name and streaming schedule in just a few moments!
The design of your Twitch banner should match your streamed content. If you mainly stream only one game, you should choose a Twitch profile banner that was specifically designed for that game. If you’re a variety streamer, your profile banner should showcase that viewers should always expect something new and exciting from your broadcasts. On the other hand, if you mainly stream “Just Chatting” content, your banner of choice may be a bit more friendly and fancy. OWN3D’s wide-ranging selection of awesome Twitch banners guarantees that you will find something that fits your channel perfectly!
Twitch recommends a minimum size of 1200×480 pixels. Keep in mind that the displayed size is scaled according to the size of the user's browser window. This means that low-resolution profile banners can appear pixelated when they are stretched out.
Twitch allows creators to upload profile banners in JPEG, PNG or GIF format (all static), with a file size limit of 10MB. All of OWN3D’s Twitch banner designs match this requirement.
The profile picture is permanently displayed above the video player in a little circle. Unlike profile banners, profile pictures on Twitch are displayed in an aspect ratio of 1:1. This should just be your face or your logo: there isn’t enough space to display important information, unlike on your Twitch banner.
Sometimes it just takes a little bit of time for Twitch’s servers to update your profile banner. If you still can’t see it on the live page after waiting a couple of minutes, try using a different browser and see if that helps. Generally, trying again a little bit later should fix this problem by itself, as long as your Twitch banner image is of the right format and resolution.
